How to fight stress

Here are six steps to help in overcoming stress.

1. Don't worry
If you worry the feeling of stress grows. What you need to do is try and express your feelings, you could do this by trying to write how you feel or talking to someone. Another thing that you could do is listen to music or exercise as this can help you to achieve a more positive outlook.

2. Get support
When you are feeling stressed try talking to people who you feel that you can confide in such as parents or other relatives, teachers, or friends. It is often said that a problem shared is a problem halved and often you will find that other people have experienced what you are going through and might be able to share how they coped.

3. Don't take it out on yourself
Taking it out on yourself will not help in overcoming a problem. You need to think positively otherwise the problem will just spiral out of control and you will end up with a much larger problem than you started with. Instead of taking it out on yourself find another outlet, such as sports, writing, or even talking to someone.

4. Get a good night sleep
Getting enough sleep helps to keep the body and the mind focused, making you more able to deal with your feelings and emotions and stressful situations.

5. Try to solve the problem
In order to solve a problem you need to focus your thoughts and try to figure out what it is that is making you feel stressed. Once you have found the source of your stress you then need to resolve it one piece at a time.

6. Be positive - most stress is temporary
It might seem like it will never end when you are feeling stressed, but just remember that stress doesn't go over night, it will take time to overcome but you will do it.
