Database - Data Form
I created a data entry form for adding new records and included features like drop down menus and helpful headings.
I then asked several people to test the form and for their feedback on the form and got the following feedback:
"Very Squashed. Not all label headings visible. Size of fields to big/ to small. No instructions. No buttons to navigate."
Using those comments i totally redesigned my form. I added big, bold titles and the Make Space logo. I also added instructions on how to fill out the form and some of the fields. I changed the font, style and layout of the form to make it less squashed and more readable. I changed the length of the fields to the right size depending on what data would be entered. I also added the buttons at the bottom for New Record, Delete Record and several navigation buttons.
As well as using the feedback to make those changes i also decided to add something else to my form. I thought that it would be easier to have the options in the combo box for 'Type Of Activity Offered' as the actual description (e.g. like 'Sport') instead of the user having to work out the code (e.g. 'SP'). I achieved this by creating a separate table with the activity code and the description. I then added a special query to the combo box so that when they selected Sport for example, it would enter the code SP into the database.
To double check that the new and updated form I created was user friendly i asked for some more feedback and asked a user to check the form. I got the following feedback:
"Nice title with the logo. Easy and simple input boxes. Easy and simple to workout. Very Professional."
After using their comments to improve the form, i then added some organisations to the Database some from my past Research and others from organisations I new in the area.
I added Baden Powell Scouts as a group meets close by to where i live. I added Kingswood Foundation as i used this charity for my Choosing Activity task and it is also local to our school. I used Attic Fusion Theatre as this organization also came up in the Choosing Activity task. The other two organisations i added: Kids & SENSE were charities which work/worked in our area.
