 I need to produce six publications: a leaflet, a report, a letter, database reports, web pages and a presentation. The deadline to get everything finished in May half term.

It took longer than I thought to produce this plan because I had to decide what needed to be done for each publication and allocate enough time to do it in. Fitting everything in to the available time was difficult especially since I'm not sure how long some tasks will take to complete.

I have created a folder for each of the publications and one for research, but I haven't decided yet what structure my eportfolio will have.

I used the Internet to do most of my research into screen-based media. It is a very big topic with lots of sub-topics.

I think I'll probably have to do some more research into particular topics once I start working on the publications.

Miss Gaffney has found out from Edexcel that group work for the survey isn't allowed. I must design my own questionnaire.

The target group for my questionnaire are parents with teenage children.

I have done quite a lot of work on the draft questionnaire and asked Mr Rushby (maths teacher) to test it. He suggested some changes that would make the data I collect easier to analyse.

 My draft questionnaire was tested by Mrs Mathieson (form tutor), my mother and my auntie. I made a number of changes to the questionnaire as a result of their feedback.

I handed out copies of my questionnaire to 60 parents as they arrived for Year 10 parent evening. This was a lot quicker than sending them home for parents to fill in. I got nearly all of them back but only 12 questionnaires were filled in by fathers.

Had a progress review with Miss Gaffney. She likes my questionnaire and is pleased with what I have done so far. I need to change my plan because I haven't finished the survey and Miss Gaffney thinks it would be sensible to do the PTA report next.

Collating the data from the questionnaires is taking ages and is quite boring to do.

I asked Charlotte (friend) to pick ten completed questionnaires at random and check that I had entered the data into the spreadsheet accurately. I did the same for her. It's very easy to make a mistake and it's important to check properly.

I could not get the graphs to show in the htm version and had to create separate pdf documents for each one and make a link from the spreadsheet to them.

Mr Rushby has shown me how to do this now so I don't need the pdfs. He suggested some more complex analysis for me to try.

I eeded to make some changes to the report as a result of feedback from test users (my Mum and Mrs Pritchard) - main change was from two column format to one.

Had second progress review with Miss Gafffney. She said my report was excellent but suggested I include a copy of the questionnaire in an appendix. She reminded me that I needed to get someone to review the finished report. I will ask Mr Kirkham (science teacher) because he is a member of the PTA.

I need to change my plan to fit in work on the leaflet.

Report finished 3 days late

I nearly finished my report on time but only by delaying work on the leaflet.

 Study data set and information provided Design database structure I imported the data into Access so that it was easier to look at it and decide on a suitable structure anf suitable validation.

I used an append query to import the data into my table. 3 records were rejected.

I used a 'find unmatched record' query to compare the contents of the new table with the old one and identify the records which had been rejected.

Plan reports that would be useful for headteachers It took me a lot longer than I expected to customise the data entry form so that it was easy to use.

Charlotte and Amy tried out my data entry form. Charlotte said it was easy to fill in. Amy found it harder because she isn't doing DiDA. She needed help because she didn't always know what to enter. I haven't got time to improve the form anymore so have decided to leave it.

Came in for two days during the Easter holiday to finish off database reports and prepare database evidence for ePortfolio.

Miss Gaffney showed me how to make a movie to illustrate my database structure.

I also made a movie of Charlotte using the data entry form.

Had third progress review with Miss Gaffney. She says I need to revise my plan again because there's not enough time left to get everything done by the end of May. She has given me an extra 3 weeks to complete my work. The new deadline is 20 June.

Miss Gaffeny reminded me that I needed someone to review my reports. I will ask Mr Hodgson (head teacher) to do this.
